Does anyone know what kind of cable is used for the remote zoom control? I'm looking to replace the 3ft. standard cable with a cable that runs between 10-15 feet. I have been told that it is a:
2 Conductor stereo super-mini cable
I am trying to get this cable for a shoot (gasp!) on Sunday. Any help as to where I might find one would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

If you have a Manfrotto remote you can make a long cable by using 2 x 2.5mm Mini Stereo male jacks connect them by a length of 3 wire cable, Look for a cable that will fit in the connectors collar,They are very small.
If yoh have Varizoom or Beboob you will have to make an extender cable, Same deal just feamale in one end.
If in a hury or cant find connectors, Cut your 3 feet cable in two and solder
another piece of mic or any other cable in between. Isolate the bare wires.
Danny.

Thanks Danny! I am using the Varizoom controller. Will a long mini Stereo cable do the job?

Thanks Danny. Will we need to modify the ends, or are the standard ends ok?

Headphones use 3.5mm jacks, Lanc remote are 2.5mm jacks, See for your self. You will have to change to 2.5mm. Or... Cut the 3ft cable...

You can pick up an extension 1/8" cable, and 3/32->1/8" adapters, at Radio Shack. If you're in a hurry and don't want to solder anything, that system will work. Get a 2.5mm (3/32") female to 3.5mm (1/8") male adapter, a 16' 1/8" female to 1/8" male cable, and a 3.5mm female to 2.5mm male adapter (adapters necessary because radio shack doesn't carry 3/32"/2.5mm extension cables).

There is also a seller on ebay that sells LANC extension cables. I bought one recently to replace my flaky Varizoom cable. Can't find my soldering pen, otherwise it'd be up and running. :(

Thanks for the suggestions guys. We ended out making due with the 3-footer, thanks to the long reach of the 1st AC (and a ladder). I will try the adapter method you suggested Barry. Thanks as always,
Peter
