Tip McPartland May 17th, 2006, 12:02 PM More than likely your tripod has its own quick disconnect plate which you would screw to the bottom of the camera. I had the JVC plate and sent it back because it was incompatible with my matte box. I would say to save the money and put it toward a matte box or sticks, and screw the tripod's quick release plate directly to the matte box or camera. The JVC part is very nice and it much like what you'd see on a pro camera. It clicks into place very tightly, and the big broadcast style lower plate does give you much more range for fore and aft configurations. I wanted to make it work, but ultimately for me it didn't. Tip Carl Hicks May 17th, 2006, 12:32 PM Hi Steve, The head plate off of most pro tripods can screw directly to the bottom of the GY-HD100U camera. However, the optional KA-551U kit gives you a firmer, more solid connection to the tripod head, and it has a quick release trigger. The wedge-shaped shoe that comes in the kit also is compatible with Sony and Panasonic professional tripod plates. Regards, Carl |
