Hello
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Avantone Shock Mounts? I saw them on Ebay for $20 from seller aaaudio. Apparently its all metal construction and they claim (of course) that its well made. My plan is to use it for my Rode NTG-2

I'm wondering if its junk? I don't want to spend a lot, nor do I want to throw my money away.

Also thinking about Sabra-Som SSM-1. That seems like a decent mount, lightweight and convenient to pack.

Any opinions? Thanks!
Ray

Never have heard of this brand before, but that doesn't mean it's no good.
For budget shockmount, check out the new lightweight from Ktek. They've got a great little design that's a tad fragile, but very easy to use, replace rubbers, etc, and the device works exceptionally well, price not being a consideration.

Ray,

I looked at the Avantone on eBay.

Generaly speaking, the longer the supports (large rubber bands) are that are used in a shock mount, the better the isolation.

The Avantone looks like it will work, but not quite as good as some others.

The question becomes, how much isolation do your require? And is the 15% to 30% increase in isolation worth the $130 more you have to pay to get it?
