Saw an advanced screening.
It's an amusement park ride, a genre disaster movie. Lots of action, an obvious & simple plot (hey we gotta get outa here), with hastily sketched characters. Close to TV production values, I was thinking a movie version of the Love Boat.
Think roller coaster ride, you know where you're going, and there's not much mystery to it, but it's still fun to experience the ups & downs. Which way are they gonna go? who's gonna die? and how?
I did find that it was a good date movie, lots of screamy, oh my god, oh crap, oh no moments. Great on the big screen, that's the only place I'd see it, there's not enough character/plot for a smaller home screen viewing.
Go for the suspense, don't go for the art.
