I have a Greek friend who's a young director, and she's considering enrolling in the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. Evidently they have some affiliation with Universal Studios: http://www.nyfa.com/film/school_locations/universal_studios.html

She is very fortunate to have a Fullbright scholarship which would pay her way. She's torn between this place and some other options on the East Coast. Does anybody have some insights to share about this place?

Doesn't the Fullbright require an accredited school? Is the New York film academy accredited?

Evidently the scholarship can be used for any purpose she desires, even studying with an individual artist. However that really wasn't my question; I was looking for some feedback about the school and its programs....

The best thing about the NYFA (in Los Angeles) is that the students get the use of the Universal backlot and property department. (On a limited basis, of course.)

Other than that, they seem to be a competent school. Very focused, they teach only filmmaking skills, no other type of courses you would find at a general arts school.
