I was disappointed to see that the HVX-200 did not include the edge-enhancement focusing aid that is standard on the DVX-100. Instead, when you press a button a small central window appears with a digital zoom to allow sharper focusing. This window disappears about 10 seconds later, so if you need to continue focusing (as with action or sports events) you have to keep pushing this button. Seems to be a bad choice by Panasonic. Any comments by users of the HVX-200 ?

Have you tried the EVF Detail button on the back of the camera, underneath the P2s?

Yeah, I think you just didn't see it. The HVX offers the exact same EVF DTL function that the DVX did.

I'm so glad to hear the the EVF DTL button is still there ! I foolishly trusted the Sony rep at the NAB when he said (while we were both looking at a HVX-200) that the EVF DTL was not included on the HVX-200. Thanks for clearing that up !

and to me, this is one of the best features added to the 100a from the original design.. it was sorely needed, however fo HD work IMO it needs refining. Preferably, with a firmware update, i dont see how this CANT be possible, but withthe focus peak, i would prefer a JVC like outline of my focal distance.
If anyone here has used the focus assist on the JVCHD101, then you will know that when you have a shot focused to certain distance, THAT focused point is outlined in blue. With the cheap LCD's and EVFs of these cameras, this like this are a necesity, especially for run and gun work.
SSony were halfway there with the zoom focus button, but it still doesnt cut it for fast shooting workflow (trust m ive tried) and being HD, focus is FAR FAR FAR more critical than anything else..

I think Pana can extend on this evf detail by jsut adding a different colour ot the focal pe ak ranges then that would alleviate many of the issues we hear about soft images etc etc
IMO, most of these "soft" image complaints are from bad focus
