I need advice on a monopod for my VX2100.
I have been very happy with Bogen tripods so naturally I am leaning toward a Bogen Monopod.
Any feedback on the 676B (has a quick heigh adjustment) or the 679B (flip locks for height, but appears to have a more comfortable grip)?
Also do you recommend getting a head with it, or just mount the camera directly to the top of the monopod? Any problems with the VX2100 being front heavy?
Thanks
Ezra

I have the Bogen (Manfrotto) 680B. No head, just screw it into the camera. I haven't noticed any front-heaviness - your mileage may vary.

Regardless of what you get, I'd suggest getting a quick release adapter for the pod so you can go from tripod to monopod easily.
As far as the VX being "front heavy"... I've never noticed but depending on what other things you've got mounted you may notice that the "swivel" from side to side is something to contend with.

A head is likely to make the monopod heavier than you might like, especially of you want to use it in "poor-person's steadicam" mode, however, I'd certainly follow Rick Steele's advice and get the quick release plate for quick on and off.

I just saw this on the Bogen site. It's a new monopod from Bogen, that will be released in late July, the 560B.
It's a revolutionary new monopod that has and fluid base for 360 panning, a pan/tilt, and substantial 3 footed retractable base.

B & H is showing it retailng for $149..

I currently have the 628B and it works ok. But the retractable legs are to springy for me to really take advantage of.

This is why I am probably going to sell it and try the 560B out.
Hope ths helps.
