Hi - Is it possible to cut off the bates plug and wire it as an edison or is an adapter required. If one is, where might I find one? Thanks

Well, that really depends on the power requirements of the devices you're using. In any case, try B and H for several edison to bates boxes.

And not to be cynical, but as with all things in the world of photography and videography, you have a thousand percent markup on a simple piece of hardware. It's a converter that you would expect an electrician to have, and a supplier to sell, for 20 or 30 bucks. What you have is a $250 item. Well worth the cost of a soldering iron and a how-to book.
