Beyond the Noise Gate in Vegas, any ideas on how to get rid of the high pitch, which I can only believe is light noise. I did pull the highs down in the graphic eq and that helped as well.

This is a project I'm doing for my boss (wife) and wanted to take what is not great quality and fix it the best I can.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like a consistent frequency, so you should be able to use an EQ to get rid of it.

I hammered at the highs but then it sounded crappy, I just want to know the best way, hehe. I'm always never to proud to learn. :}

Starting from an mp3 is never a good thing, but there's a lot more than just that high pitched whine in there.
http://www.vasst.com/Tempfolder/fix.mp3 has a lot of processing on it, but it's far from optimal. Gated, EQ, noise reduction, and maximizing in that order. A bit too much NR for my taste, but I'd prefer the NR over the noise of the room, myself.

That's pretty much the approach I took, minus the gating on the front of the chain because it sounded too unnatural. If the original poster has some cleaner ambient sound bites (or fakes ones from a sound library) that could be mixed back in then the gate IMHO would sound much less unnatural. Although I tried noise reduction first, I went back to notch EQ first to kill the hum. Then I went for killing the tape-like hiss (where's that Dolby NR switch when you need it). I also did some volume reduction (approx -5db) on some of the silence between passages.

It's always fun to try 'klenzing' the sound track.
