Just channel surfing tonight and came across the movie "Foreigner 2" on USA. I'm watching on regular analog standard definition cable, but this film is formatted for anamorphic 16:9. On my widescreen TV if I switch to full-screen mode then it looks correctly proportioned. On a 4:3 TV everything looks too tall and skinny.
This is very strange... I wonder if it's a mistake? Have never seen one of the major networks present something in this format. The commercials are regular 4:3, so if I leave the TV in full-screen mode then everyone looks horizontally stretched.
Anyone else notice this oddity?
