Has anyone seen this?

I have been looking for a way to output my HDV material - and this seems to have everything that I would need. Just wanted to know if anyone has one, or has experience with it. I hope that it is the first of many of this type of recorder.

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

If you had the aptitude and inclination, you could build a homebrew media PC with similar functions for less $.

For video input I agree - HDV rack etc. are excellent for the task - but my problem is an easy way to display my HDV material - for playback in home theatre.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

I bought a Linkplayer2 for $180 on EBay - it plays raw mpeg transport streams in 1080i or 720p, plus HD WM9 files, off standard red-lazer DVDs (or streaming off your network).

I view it as good interim meaure until HD-DVD gets more affordable. The only real downside is the lack of "proper" menus for the homemade HD-DVDs, and lack of capacity for long (multi-hour) footage.

The Linkplayer has a few "bleeding edge" issues, do a search on it here on this forum. If you have more $$ to spend, the $400 JVC version - the SRDVD100U - may be a better bet.
