Apple is demonstrating both 720p24 and 1080 24F support in a couple places on the floor.

The version they're running is "5.1+ Universal, NAB Technology Demo", I think was the wording. There is no upgrade announced quite yet, but the official word both are coming in "an imminent realease". I also heard it would be a free upgrade, not rolled up into a version 6 release. Man, all those FCP6 rumors were wrong, wrong, wrong.

Don't sweat. At least Apple decided they'd better not keep us hanging any longer.

I got a bit more from the Apple guy. If he's correct, they are not going to remove pull-down during capture. They are going to support the capture of 60p to file. Which is great!

Then the MPEG-2 decoder used to play the Timeline will be enhanced to handle the 24p (25p?) plus 50p and 60p. It will also handle 24F.

This is a big issue since it means going into the FCP code not just the capture code. Hence the delay.

It also suggests a 5.2 or 5.5 release sometime in late spring or early summer. Likely about the same time as Avid's 5.5 release (June).

There will be a 720/24 project type, as there is now in version 5.4.4, but it's DVCProHD specific. In order to work with the HD100, you'll have to capture with another app, convert to DVCProHD, and import to Avid in order to edit.

Yes- I'm eagerly awaiting the answer to that myself. The documentation for the new MC on Avid's site kind of leaves that one up in the air. It lists 720p @ 23.976 as a project type- but doesn't specify whether it's DnX/DVCProHD only, or if it's HDV compliant as well.
