Wondering if anybody has tried this, how the audio turned out? Any problems with the wind and did you use the mics as is or did you add a lav windscreen?

Also, well I'm asking, anybody have any experience with the cheaper fur windscreensfound on ebay and if they are any good? I'm not looking to spend too much, and I know how expensive some of these units can get, but I'm also not sure what kind of technology goes into windscreens so it is hard to evaluate the cheaper ones?

One last question, is a windscreen always necessary outside on both lav and shotgun mics or only in windy conditions or...?

It's been a while since I shot a ceremony outside and I have several in the next couple months, so any tips would be appreciated.

I use the iRiver iFP-895 with a set of stereo mics from Giant Squid. With the proper record level (I use 55) it works great. I bought the windscreens that Giant Squid recommends from Radio Shack and they worked fine. It hasn't been extremely windy the times I've used them outside but they certainly helped when little breezes blew by at important times.

Do you happen to know what windscreen at radio shack you bought, and how much it was?

Thanks
