Hi there,

I have a client who is wanting to use Digibeta HD mostly because of the 4:2:2 colorspace.

I have a Z1U and Cineform HD 4.0 which advertises that it converts 4:2:0 to 4:2:2.

I am wondering how (in laymans terms) this takes place and how it would compare to actually shooting in 4:2:2?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

Shooting 4:2:2 is better than upconverting 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 which is better then using 4:2:0 as is in a native system. I can't reveal the algorithms used. The quality analysis page documents some of the benefits of the upconversion : http://www.cineform.com/technology/HDVQualityAnalysis051011/HDVQualityAnalysis051011.htm
