If I shot on a feature on PAL DV (25fps, which is closer to 24fps than NTSC) would any distributers accept it? Would it be possible to transcribe to film, or would it have to be shot in 24p to be considered?

In terms of a general filmish look though, is PAL far closer in being 25FPS than NTSC's 30?

For instance, using the VX2100 (Am able to get this VAT free, so it looks like it's the winner over the the FX1 debate :D) which as far as I know doesn't have a 24P (or progressive for that matter) mode, could I simply shoot in 25fps, deinterlace in post and adjust the gamma curve to give more of a film look (comparing the VX2100 to the DVX100 which has a cinegamma feature as well as 24P shooting mode)

For just the film aesthetic, does the extra frame in PAL video make that much of a difference?

you could shoot 50i on the VX, and deinterlace to 25p.

There is practically no difference between 24p and 25p, the human eye can't see the difference. '28 days later' was shot on xl1s pal models too, so.

If Im in PAL land using a PAL camera, what should I film in 24p or 25p?

with a PAL camera you wouldn't be able to shoot 24p. You would have to shoot 25p and then slow down 4% in post.

Ypu could slow down to 24 then speed up to 25 again for PAL, but there must be better ways to spend your time.

That's done a lot for a PAL transfer. Although I hear with dialogue it can get a bit icky.
