I know there are threads on this subject, but I did not see this specific question. Sorry if it's a repeat.

From what I read hear so far, and since I don't want to spend $600 for the Sony mic, I am leaning towards purchasing the AT 897 for my Z1. Here's the questions...
Does it fit into the Sony mic holder? If so, is that ok?
I have seen the universal shook mount. What is this for and why would I need it?
Where do I attach one if I had it? It looks like it has to go on a hotshooe, but I have my fs-4 on my hot shoe. Any thoughts?

I’ve got at AT897 that I use with my Z1 and No it doesn’t fit in the mic mount (too thin). You can add some rubber around about the thickness of a bicycle tire it but I found that camera handling noise was a bit much so I have mine mounted on the shoe with an AT85697 Shoe Mount (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=product.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&shs=AUAT84697&image.x=0&image.y=0) and an AT8415 Shock Mount (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=300643&is=REG&addedTroughType=search). This works out very well. You can get a shoe mount that has multiple mount points if you are already using it for other accessories.
