Microsoft and Flip4Mac have conspired and given Mac users a supported plugin (by MS) to allow WMVs to play in QuickTime.
MS Download of Windows Media Components for QuickTime (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=915d874d-d747-4180-a400-5f06b1b5e559&DisplayLang=en)
Footnotes for the D/L page, "optimized for High-Definition playback", requires QT 6.5 or higher and Mac OSX 10.3.9 or later.
Since it says "components", it should support wma and probably asf.
Also at the bottom of the link is WMP9 for Mac.
