do you think this small halogen flashlight by stanley might have potential as an extra light source in improvised documentary shooting situations? it definitely looks like it would set up nicely.

additionally, i'm wondering how the quality of the halogen light will affect the color cast of footage shot under its illumination. will it cause ugly aberrations on the footage? (it's unclear to me whether it's a white light--not that i know exactly what tha implies/means.)
thanks,

Hey, that's kind of a cool product... but not halogen - it uses several LED's. There has been a lot of discussion of LED's for video lighting but I haven't followed it as closely as I should.... But the color temparature is probably closer to the HMI ballpark I'd guess, certainly a lot bluer than halogen.
I've used flashlights as fill when shooting on the beach at night. The beam pattern will probably be a little rough, but some diffusion gel might handle that pretty well. Let us know what you think if you buy one.

Oh, now that's sweet! And only 25 bucks?? Doesn't say what amount of wattage it puts out, though.....although, as a flashlight....guess it'd make a great accent light...

I didn't see where is said it was specifically 32kelvin, but maybe I was hypnotized by the $260 price tag! I assume that it would only be about $26 if it were not "military spec"? 1/2-)
In any case, it's too bad the Stanly one appears to use some sort of proprietary tripod mount and not a 1/4 bolt.
