View Full Version : Another "real" Job done with the HD100
Matthew Pugerude March 26th, 2006, 05:49 PM The HD100 is really coming into its own I don't think I really need to say that here. This is also for all those people out there who are wondering what work is really being done with HD100. The article is not real in-depth but the outcome is very positive for the to the HD100

I fixed the link first time making a link in the forum sorry
Jemore Santos March 29th, 2006, 08:28 AM I hope thats SD60p and not DV that he's using.
Joe Lawry March 29th, 2006, 05:57 PM is said in that article that the hd100's have "three widescreen-native 1280 x 720 pixel CCDs".
I've been looking at upgrading from my pd150 to a hd100 or 101.. i've viewed the 101 and it did not have native 16:9 ccds.. well at least thats what i was told, is there a difference between the 100 and the 101 when it comes to native 16:9 ccds?
going to have to read some more reviews on it before i make any decisions.. i guess the z1 is the only other option. i do like the 24p mode on the 101 though.. .
wow went off topic, sorry,.

The 100 PAL version doesn't have Firewire input, the 101 does. That is the only difference between the cameras. They are both native 16:9 SD or HDV.

Joe Lawry March 29th, 2006, 11:18 PM cheers dan, i've got a hd100 brochure infront of me and it says nothing about the ccds being 16:9 native.. then again it says nothing about them being native 4:3 either.
Nate Weaver March 29th, 2006, 11:43 PM The CCDs on the HD100 are indeed 16:9, 1280x720 square pixel. JVC has been putting this info out for over a year now.

Nate,
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the HD100 the only native 1280x720 camera on the market?
Dan Weber
Nate Weaver March 30th, 2006, 01:28 AM Pretty much. But then again, every manu has kind of picked out the number that they think works best for their price point.
Or put another way, only the XLH-1 puts more pixels to the pavement out of the under $10k cams.
Joe Lawry March 30th, 2006, 01:38 AM well it didnt say anything about native 16:9 ccds in the BR-HD50e and HG100e brochure.
i think what confused me about it was the fact the lcd is in 4:3.. pretty stupid if you ask me.
joe.

It could be stupid if it was... but if you stop to think about it, it's a hell of a lot easier to view a 16x9 image on a 4x3 screen than it is to view a 4x3 image on a 16x9 screen, that's a loss of realstate that direction. And given that the HD100 supports both aspect ratios in DV and only one in HDV it might not be so stupid. But, being that it is in fact a 16x9 LCD I'm not sure I follow you.
Joe Lawry March 30th, 2006, 02:12 AM i've been reading false info somewhere then, and yes your correct about viewing 16:9 on a 4:3. Oh well, im glad i've finally found out it is native 16:9. That was the only thing that i personally 'thought' the z1 had over it.

Hmmm..
I thought this well known since its debut.
Jiri Bakala March 30th, 2006, 09:16 AM Not to mention that the 4x3 LCD is great for keeping some info such as the TC counter, mode and others in the letterboxed area, not cluttering the picture too much...
