Anyone tried one of these on a XL H1?
Jpeg 2000 seems to hold up very well.
Price should be less of 10K.
Take a look:

What kind of NLE and computer do you work with? Ever tried playing back JPEG2000 transcoded clips? On my G5 dual 2.7 I'm getting a playback frame rate of less than 2 fps from clips encoded to bit rates of 200 mbs, from H1 m2t's. I know it isn't the drive because it should be able to read 28 MBs.
I have a feeling JPEG2000 is going to require dedicated hardware to be functional in an NLE.

Maybe editing offline could be a chance.. Edit first HDV material from cassette, then working on Jpeg2000 for post production.. Not the best workflow anyway..

I'm going to test my jpeg2000 clips to see how quickly they convert to other formats for editing purposes.
