I was thinking about mixing a special event I've been asked to film.
It'll be a three camera shoot (PD150s), with two of the cameras a maximum of 30 metres away from the Panasonic MX50 mixer. The other camera will be located adjacent to the mixer.
It was my intention to feed the three camera feeds into the MX50 and take the master output directly to a DSR-11 whereby I can record 275 minutes straight onto the larger PDV 184N tapes in normal DV mode.
As far as I'm aware, I can have low-loss cables for the composite video and low-loss audio cables made up specifically for the job.
If I go down this route, would you suggest a 30 metre length of cable for the PD150 adjacent to the mixer (so the losses will be the same) or would a shorter 3 metre cable be sufficient for this camera?
Another option available to me is to convert the composite video and send it down a CAT5 cable whereby it's converted back to composite again. Something along the lines of Canford Medialink 500 series http://www.canford.co.uk/commerce/resources/catdetails/3655.pdf
I'll be recording about ten hours per day (130GB) and was wondering if there are any other options available to be, e.g. firewire etc.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone has any concerns or issues with either set up, or has doubts about my ability to maintain good video and audio feeds into the DSR-11.
