I think this is the right forum,

anyhoo, I have a dilemma. I remember seeing a type of LCD monitor support (like a 7" on cam LCD with a screw mount on the bottom) but i can't find it again.

It seemed to be about 10" long, have a hotshoe mount on one side, and a 3/8 on the other side. It was fairly flat, and stuck off the camera horizontally. I want to be able to mount my LCD on an XL2, down beside the lens, so I need it to stick of the cam signifigantly.

Thanks!

If you need a diagram, I'll try and draw one up.

Matt

No, something similar to this...

http://catalogs.infocommiq.com/AVCAT/CTL256/index.cfm/mlc_id/256/NOTRACK/1/pin_id/1642/ProdID/339611/T3/1161.htm

(this will do, but is rather pricey!)

i saw that at B&H for 179 but i am not sure i would want to put the stress on the XL2's accessory shoe

Is this for tripod or hand held work ?

I am thinking of making a clamp for my tripod that allows me to mount my monitor as well as the FS-4 and other things on the tripod itself

For Hand Held work. I want to be able to mount the monitr upside down, right next to the M2 35mm adapter I have. I figure I need a bracket to hang off the cam and hold the monitor down there. I thought I saw a more simple one a while back. Thinner aluminmum and such.

No?

What you're looking for is called an "Israeli Arm" or a "LCD Arm". Maybe that will help you in your search. I wouldn't have any problems with putting that kind of weight on the accessory shoe, after all it is metal, and also an Israeli Arm doesn't have enough weight to it to make that huge of a difference.

Manfrotto list a monitor stand in their professional catalogue.
