I have just used the FX1 for the first time on a job. The other 2 cameras were shooting in DV 4:3 aspect ratio so I went into the FX menu and set it up. I changed the Rec Format to DV, TV Type to 4:3, VCR to DV and Rec Mode A/V-DV Out to On.
I have just captured the footage into Premiere 6.5 timeline.
In the Source Window I have a 16:9 1024x576 and in the Program Window a squeezed version in 4x3 720x576, in which everyone looks thinner than they have ever been.
In order to arrive at a non squeezed 4:3 I am using the Image Pan filter. This seems a long winded way to go about it. I must be doing something wrong, surely. But what ?
