Well, the first 10-12 hours of shooting with the HD-100 was great, very impressive - no real signs of SSE. Then, I started getting a SSE Blue screen effect even while the camera was sitting there warming up.

Now at hour 17, it happens within the first 15 minutes of the camera being turned on.

Any one else seen this level of intensity?

That is totally unacceptable you have to send it back for repair or replace, that is so far out you cannot really class it as SSE. SSE is where you see one half of the screen SLIGHTLY lighter than the other or maybe a greenish tinge on one side and magenta on the other, nothing like what you have!

That isn't what we classify as SSE around here. The defect is unlike anything I have ever seen on the HD100.

It looks like the image processor for the right side is dying - maybe overheating.

Did you see this happening in the VF while you were recording, or did it only show up on the tape?

Take it in for servicing immediately.

When the camera first arrived, I did all the normal SSE checks and I had a hard time, even at 18db producing the SSE. Then at Hour 8, the camera clearly started showing SSE as Tony Goodman describes above. During the next five hours of shooting, the SSE progressed in the full blue as shown in the video.

The effect shows on the VF as well as tape.

That's *not* the normal SSE. That's just plain something breaking in your camera. Needs to be sent to a service center immediately.

Yes, as other's have said. It's bad and you're in for the "perfect experience" of JVC service or replacement.
