I finally decided not to go HDV and go instead for a XL2. Which brought me here.

I'm investing in supporting equipment for the cam and am interested in buying some filters.

Can anyone suggest filters which it would be me worth invesing in? I know very little about them but I figure you chaps and chapesses may be able to suggest one or two must haves. I immediately bought a uv filter to protect the lens, so thats covered, but what else? and what effects do the filters create?

Would appreciate some personal thoughts from folk on this subject.

Cheers

i have a couple uv filters.. a polarizer is another standard must have. The polarizer is in two pieces. the outmost piece rotates to adjust ligthing. you can use this filter to eliminate reflection on glass (like through a window on a car) and other surfaces as well as make skies a nicer colour.

The previous post got it right with the C.P.

Next on the list might be a graduated neutral density to control sky contrast against dark foreground.
A star filter has it's uses. Watch the expensive car auction on tv that has the rov cam near the chrome on the car. Barrett Jackson. Nice effect. It's also on the high pov cam for intros and cut to break shots on pay p view boxing matches.
