Any know what's up with PhotoFlex? Have they gone out of business? I was looking at their site a couple of days ago at PhotoFlex.com (http://www.photoflex.com) and now it's no more. They had a pretty impressive site...lots of lighting tutorials.

I went tp the sire this morning and it seemed to be working fine for me. I even went to the free instructions area and those pages loaded as well for me. Maybe try trashing your cache and cookies (sometimes they can become corrupted and block out some sites). Hope this helps. BTW thanks for bringing up the site to begin with, it does seem like a good resource.

I've been mulling over lighting choices for the past six months, trying to decide what to buy. The tutorials on the PhotoFlex site show their equipment in action, what each item is best for, how to light certain subjects...really useful in helping make a purchase decision. Other manufacturers should take note...especially Lowel (it's hard to even find a decent photo of Lowel gear, much less find much information about it. Their PDF downloads don't cut it.)

It is funny you should mention Lowel's PDF catelogs. I thought
they were pretty good, until I saw their products at IBC last
year here in Amsterdam. The lights etc. were A LOT smaller than
I thought they would be and they also looked a lot more flimsy.

Since I hadn't enough time to see everything I did not look at
the products long enough though.

Next time I'm bringing my XL1s I think.

I used to use the Photoflex lights but they were just too darn hot. They were very decent though for the money and quite well made. I end up shooting in tight quarters a lot and it would just make a set too hot to stand for more than about a half hour.
I have since switched to Kinoflo and I must say, they are excellent! Anyone looking for a good set of lights should consider them, they have some great packages with a case and stands too (I travel a bit so I like that feature).

But, other than the heat, the PhotoFlex's were great.
