11 hours to go on the bid you say...maybe I ought to put in a bid for it, that's just the mod I need on an XL-2 for when I'm shooting in a crowded club and I need to clear the people out in front of me.

I heard its tape mechanism is noisy.

Is the chain resolve enough details for an XLH1?

Not really, this was mainly introduced to users who derided Canon for eliminating the 'grain feature'. Canon introduced a novel spin on the idea. (Think about it)

They also added major enhancements to the stabilizing feature to counteract the 'pull-start' mechanism.

many new owners have been complaining of the new xl2 eating and shredding tape.

and also are complaining about the switch from lithium batteries to a mixture of gasoline and oil. Because of the rising cost of gas many xl2 owners have given up on digital video beacuse of the cost associated with powering this monster and have converted back to shooting with film as a cheaper alternative

early reports of this mod include major disappointment in the ongoing problem with camera noise in the on-board mic. It is considered a given with this particular model.

Also noted is the enhanced intimidation aspect with on-camera talent where the 'deer in the headlights' expression has become the norm in front of this camera, even for seasoned newscast vets.

I've heard that the only "transition" that can be done with this camcorder is a "Cut".

How soon to a XL2s model?

Well, it's still wintertime and videomakers have a lot of time on their hands.
But, I could fall for this model. It'd look good in my yard.
