View Full Version : IDX Promo?
Heath Vinyard March 2nd, 2006, 06:06 PM Today marks the end of the week two wait, and on to week three. Gosh. This thing needs JUICE! JVC. Send that puppy to me! I have two E-7s's on the way from BH. :)
Has anyone received theirs yet that didn't overnight the cert in AND did purchase from BH with the printable cert?
Carl Hicks March 3rd, 2006, 02:16 PM Hi Heath,
I check with the department that does the order processing for the free IDX package. As of today, they have not received your claim.
I suggest that all claims for free goods be sent by 2 day or 1 day air, UPS or FedEX - something you can track.
Regards, Carl

So what am I supposed to do? That was all original stuff I sent in. Am I just to forget about the promo? Is there a number I can call or am I just out of luck?
Carl Hicks March 3rd, 2006, 03:21 PM Hi Heath,
An update: The claim jsut got to the office today. I was told the reason for delay was with the post office - postage was due, and it came regular mail.
So, it's "in the mill" now.

Thank you for checking. I guess I felt better thinking that I was already in the mill. Now knowing I have an even longer wait before I can use the camera, it's just that much more frustrating. I guess there's nothing I can do about it.
Thank you for the help.

My mistake for posting a frustration. I will keep quiet here.
Carl Hicks March 3rd, 2006, 04:43 PM Heath,
Yes, the US Postal service has bitten me too.
You can use the camera now for shorter shoots, and get familiar with it. And, you've got an AC power supply as well. Just add a long extension cord to it for now!! :)
Have a good weekend, Carl
Heath Vinyard March 3rd, 2006, 05:50 PM Thanks again for checking on this for me Carl. Any idea how long it takes once it's in the mill?
Carl Hicks March 5th, 2006, 03:56 PM Hi Heath,
I was told by the person that processes these deals that they estimate one to two weeks. With the promo recently coming to an end, there are many claims to get approved and shipped. We had a lot of customers wait until the very last day to commit to orders with their dealers. This creates a processing and shipping bottle neck.

Steven Thomas March 5th, 2006, 07:51 PM Carl,
How long should it take for JVC to get an IDX certificate to their dealer.
I bought my camera from National Video Tape , Tempe AZ almost 30 days ago and have not received the certificate. I've called several times, but have not had any luck.
Why does it take this long to send out the certificate?
Thanks, Steve
Carl Hicks March 6th, 2006, 07:45 AM Hi Steve,
My experience in my district is that our corporate office has been sending out the certificates to the dealers within a week of the time the cameras shipped to the dealer, and by some form of 1 or 2 day delivery.
You should get in touch with the JVC District Manager who handles your dealer, and he can help track it down for you. Give him your name, address, telephone, purchase date, dealer, and serial number. I will e-mail you off-list his contact info.
Regards, Carl

Ok. That gives me a ballpark time to keep an eye out. Thanks for all your help with this.
Ram Ganesh April 26th, 2006, 02:29 PM was this promo extended? or any new promos for HD100?
K. Forman April 26th, 2006, 03:56 PM Better yet, any sort of IDX deal to come with the 250? What about the lens? I read somewhere, the price of $8000 doesn't include a lens.
Joe Bowey April 26th, 2006, 05:07 PM Bought my camera a month ago from Tapeworks texas and still have not recieved my batteries. I missed you carl at NAB by a few seconds. Just got back to AZ and my feet hurt.
I hope my batteries come soon.
I also sent mine thru the Post office but next day with confirmation and it was recieved at least through the eyes of the post office.

Joe,
I bought mine same time frame as you from Texas Tapeworks as well. I overnighted my certificate in and talked to JVC 2 weeks ago. I was told that mine would ship shortly, but I still haven't seen anything. I was hoping that there would be a box waiting for me today when I got back from NAB. I plan on calling JVC tomorrow for an update.

Jake Strickbine April 27th, 2006, 07:27 AM Hey Carl- I got in on the IDX promo at the end of March, (sent in my certificate on the 27th). I had heard through the grapevine that JVC ran out of the IDX promo kits and was waiting for a new shipment from the manufacturer before they could fill all of the 11th-hour promo orders.
Is that pretty accurate- or should I be getting worried if I don't have my kit within another couple of weeks?
Carl Hicks April 27th, 2006, 08:37 AM That is accurate. There were a lot of "11th Hour" claims, which depleated our supply. More are due in mid May.
Regards, Carl
Jake Strickbine April 27th, 2006, 09:10 AM Thanks Carl! You da' man.

Carl, I just talked to Mary in the NJ office and she told me that same thing and that you had called to check the status of my kit. Thanks for checking up on it. Hopefully IDX can come through with the order soon. I have a shoot in May that I was hoping to use the camera for. I will wait and see what happens.
Thanks again,
Dan Weber
Joe Bowey April 27th, 2006, 02:13 PM Who do you check with to make sure all the paper work made it? I know there is a back log but I just want confirmation they got my certificate?
Martin Wellhoefer April 27th, 2006, 05:19 PM Lucky me. I just received my battery kit yesterday - 4 weeks. Not too bad.

Hi Joe,
Your claim was entered on 4/5, and we're just waiting on more supply to come from IDX. Many "last minute" claims depleted our supply and IDX's.

Gary Williams May 1st, 2006, 12:51 PM I sent my claim in on March 26th I got my system about a little over 2wks later JVC was great about it, eager to please as you can see on this forum. I to was told they were out and waiting for the next shippment from IDX. Later that week, shortly after I recieved my IDX system. Great Job JVC You are really working at customer service I am sold and very pleased I bought this camera.
Daniel Weber May 1st, 2006, 01:02 PM I bought mine on the 30th, but due to UPS screwing up the shipping, I didn't get it until almost a week later. As soon as I opened the box I sent the certificate in via FedEx overnight.
Guess that I just missed the last of the batteries. I guess you can't complain when your getting it for free!!!!
Hopefully it will come by the end of May.

Joe Bowey May 2nd, 2006, 01:11 PM Hey Carl, THANKS for responding to my thread. I have the flu now and fill like crap.
I did recieve my portabrace ctc3 bag. Excellent choice and waiting for my focus 101 tripod

Wow- I sent mine on March 28th and still haven't received my IDX kit. Guess there's some luck of the draw involved here.
Oh well- free's free. I can wait for free.
Mark Silva May 2nd, 2006, 11:07 PM I recieved mine within 2 weeks of sending the coupon in.
(this was from the original offer in january)
Love the IDX. I need to get 2 more with the stacking option.
Chad Terpstra May 3rd, 2006, 08:46 AM Does anyone know why the company(s) decided to do this and if they might do it again? I'm looking to cut $1000+ out of the price of this camera by getting in on a promotion like this. As an event videographer (and in any application) some kind of battery solution is obviously necessary. Too bad I missed out....
Chris Basmas May 3rd, 2006, 09:22 AM Chad are you sure this is a good cam for event videography? I own both the DV5100 and HD100, and i'm thinking of selling the HD100+IDX.
I did some testing in room lighting and there is no comparison in sensitivity, for natural light video. I don't think 1/3" HDV is ready for prime time yet. On the other hand i still have great looking footage shot with my 11 year old Supercam.
It's a hard decision to make
Chad Terpstra May 3rd, 2006, 10:37 AM Perhaps I shouldn't have classified myself as 100% event videographer. My main area of interest is really film-making and I do a good variety of corporate/promotional videos as well.
For event video I'm sure I'll be using the HD-100 in SDV mode which I've heard will add a stop of light due to decreased grain visibility (picture still looks good at 12db). My FX1 is the same way. In HDV you see a lot of noise at 12-15db, but in DV mode 12db is pretty clean.
The DV5100 looks like a great cam, but now that I've gone HD, I have a hard time looking back! ;-)
Jake Strickbine May 3rd, 2006, 11:52 AM I did some testing in room lighting and there is no comparison in sensitivity, for natural light video. I don't think 1/3" HDV is ready for prime time yet.
This is pretty much the case with any pro camera, whether 1/3" or 2/3". They're designed with the assumption in mind that someone who's spending $6 to $20K on a camera is probably going to be looking to feed it light when they're shooting.
Tim Holtermann May 3rd, 2006, 11:55 AM You can sell your HD100 and keep your SD camera but that is the key - SD. If you have a need to shoot in HD then the other camera can't compete light or no light.
Daniel Weber May 10th, 2006, 09:20 AM Just to bring this thread back to the IDX battery promo.
I talked to JVC this morning and they are still waiting the shipment of batteries from IDX. They said that they would have them next week at the earliest. I know that this was a free offer, but I am starting to get a little frustrated. I hope that they really are going to ship next week.
I was told that mine would be shipping the third week of April when I first called after mailing in the cert.
I am starting to feel that I am told "next week" just to keep me from complaining to them on the phone.
We will see next week.

Tim Holtermann May 10th, 2006, 10:01 AM Dan, from my "sources" it seems JVC is not happy with IDX at all. Call over to IDX and you will see that they have no clue about anything. They won't call you back, etc.
It's not a bad system for free but since the included JVC battery is such a joke anyone buying this camera and expecting to shoot with it right away will have to find another power source. Since it seems the promo is taking forever the only option is to rent a battery system or buy Anton Bauer. Now that you have had to pay for several rentals or purchase a system it's hardly a free promo anymore.
IDX will find that this bad press will harm them far more then they ever expected. When my Free IDX system wears out, it will be Anton Bauer for me.
Yoochul Chong May 10th, 2006, 01:20 PM tim,
does anton bauer have the same set up for the citidisk setup that you posted with the IDX battery?
yooch
Tim Holtermann May 10th, 2006, 02:54 PM Yes they make a kit for the the Anton Bauer too. Would work the same way.

Tim,
Thanks for the feedback. Part of the reason I bought the camera was because of the promo. I would have waited a month or more longer to purchase if I hadn't had a client contact me about shooting a pilot for a show and it gave me the chance to cash in on the promo offer. I thought from all that I read on the web, that most people got their battery setups within 2 weeks or so. This gave me plenty of time to get the battery, and then have time to run tests on the camera before the shoot. Now I am still waiting for the battery and who knows when it will arrive.
I have had a couple of problems with the camera the limited time that I have shot it, and I really want to put it through a good trial run before I use it on a paying job. Guess that I will have to try to find a rental house with IDX batteries and a plate that can be used on the HD100.
I am not pissed at JVC. I know that it's not their fault. Someone at IDX dropped the ball when they agreed to a promo offer that they can't fulfill.

Joe Bowey May 10th, 2006, 04:17 PM Hey I am in the same boat. Been about 1 and a half months and still no battery. I shoot about 20 min on the battery that came with it. Some year I''ll open my front door and to my suprise there will be my batteries all the while my hd100 is now a hd 500 model.
Someone fire IDX.
Hey I am also waiting for a tripod from cartoni now going on two weeks. Why am I wasting time and money on equipment thats not being used?
Daniel Weber May 10th, 2006, 05:41 PM Hey I am also waiting for a tripod from cartoni now going on two weeks. Why am I wasting time and money on equipment thats not being used?
Joe,
I talked to EVS yesterday and they had a Focus 101 in stock. If that is what you ordered you could cancel the other order and pick that one up.
I just ordered a Libec LS-55 from Texas Tapeworks along with a Petrol PCUB-HD bag.
I am pretty sure those items will arrive before the batteries.

Keith Ward May 11th, 2006, 07:42 AM My turn to talk to JVC this morning. Mary, who is very nice, said they're *hoping* to have the IDX systems in "by the end of the month". That, friends, is an exact quote. I'm not holding my breath, and have decided I now have to start scrounging for alternatives. Color me unhappy....
Keith
Carl Hicks May 11th, 2006, 09:30 AM We at JVC are all very sorry for the delays in shipment of the IDX package. I can assure you that JVC is in VERY CLOSE communication with IDX to get them shipped ASAP.
Thanks, Carl
Keith Ward May 11th, 2006, 09:51 AM Thanks, Carl. I'd like to be a fly on the wall for some of those VERY CLOSE communications! I bet they're also some VERY LOUD communications...
Keith
Terry Nixon May 11th, 2006, 11:04 AM FYI, per IDX this morning, the IDX E7S batteries are on back order until next month.
Tim Holtermann May 11th, 2006, 11:11 AM Then IDX should send everyone model 10's. Boy this company just keeps amazing me. They have no idea what good PR is.
Daniel Weber May 11th, 2006, 01:52 PM Then IDX should send everyone model 10's. Boy this company just keeps amazing me. They have no idea what good PR is.
Or they could just give everyone E7 batteries.
If they really are out of batteries until next month, does that mean that we won't get our kits until July?
Starting to get really frustrated.
How much is an AB plate for the HD100?
