Dylan Couper January 18th, 2003, 09:58 PM I got this... "Sorry! your IP address 24.69.255.236, has now requested 16 applet loads, which is over the limit for today. (If you are sharing this IP address with others (a web proxy server), and got this message immediately, please get a dslreports account and login so we identify you and avoid locking you out unfairly). Due to overwhelming popularity of the test server, we have had to institute a temporary IP based cap to ease pressure on our partner test sites." Jeff Donald January 19th, 2003, 01:31 PM I was reading somewhere on that site that overseas connections may show slower speeds because of the distances and their test servers. You and Rik are probably actually faster. Jeff Rhett Allen January 19th, 2003, 08:05 PM 1805/164 Unfortunately I have yet to find any servers that can push data to me fast enough to even use more than about 200-300k so I guess it isn't too bad of a connection. I used to have a 6mb line but that was severe overkill. Dan Holly January 20th, 2003, 01:08 AM 2003-01-20 02:05:10 EST: 1430 / 215 Your download speed : 1430136 bps, or 1430 kbps. Rik Sanchez January 21st, 2003, 09:02 AM This is the result of my friend's Hikari Fiber line, I thought it would be a lot faster. I guess I won't upgrade for awhile, I hear the prices are going down and the places you can get it are becoming more widespread, although there is also a 2 month waiting list to get one of those lines. maybe next year they will have some really fast connections available. 2003-01-21 08:17:42 EST: 1696 / 951 Your download speed : 1696587 bps, or 1696 kbps. Rik Sanchez June 2nd, 2006, 12:53 PM I just got my fiber optic line installed yesterday at my house, ran the test today(San Francisco site) and I have 2341 kpbs up and 1856 kpbs down. This is 3 times faster than my old DLS connection. I ran a test to a server in Tokyo and I got this: 28184.93kbps(28.184Mbps) 3522.55kB/sec uploading and downloading stuff to my iDisk is great now, before it would take forever to upload a 20mb file. now there is no installation fee and it costs about the same as the DSL line. |
