It surprised me a bit when I did a search over this matter, in this forum and on Google too, and found very little on it.
What I mean is using a multiplier, Faroudja-style, to up-convert the SD lines onto HD lines.
What are the ways to do so? Or the problems?
Is there any software way for it?
From Google it seems as if Miranda has something to deal with that conversion, but I am not sure.

Miranda, Snell and Wilcox, and Teranex all offer up-rez products in the hardware chain, or you can use software tools like Algolith or Sony Vegas. JVC also has the BR50, which is quite good for taking DVX 24p and upscaling it to 720p.

I know that Graeme Nattress was working on an FCP plug-in for this awhile ago, but I haven't heard anything about it recently...

Spot- I looked briefly through the Miranda and Terranex products, and noticed neither one of the SD to HD converters have a Firewire input. Is this common? I'm just asking out of curiosity, and because I can't see using S-vid out of my SD cam. Any idea of what these conversion cards run?

to my knowledge, they don't manufacture a firewire input. I've only worked at length with the Teranex, and it's SDI input. Miranda has SDI or component input. S&W, we've used, but I wasn't the one setting it up, so my knowledge is limited there.
Cost? Ranging from 5k up.

This seems to be the one by Miranda:

Price is probably in the 10K range, if we compare it to other Miranda high-grade products, though I couldn't find it at B&H.
It doesn't have a firewire input either.

Does Vegas use spline resizing?
