Hey guys...

I picked up the GY a few weeks ago to do some freelance sports camera work and some indy filming... i had been under the impression that you could output in PAL format, because i send footage via FTP to Finland.

After searching and finding that the NTSC/PAL conversion must be done in post, i contacted a local JVC rep who said it may be possible to exchange my HD-GY100U for an HD-GY100E...

After doing a little research, I'm pretty sure that the only difference between the cameras comes when shooting in standard DV format. Is this true? Are there any other differences that I should be aware of?

Please respond with any info ASAP... Thanks

Matt

There are two differences between an HD100U and an HD100E. First, the NTSC/PAL thing -- the 100U has NTSC DV, but no PAL. The 100E has PAL DV but no NTSC.

The second difference is firewire input. The 100U has firewire input, the 100E does not. You'd have to go with the more-expensive 101E in order to retain firewire input.

Hi Matt,

This also means that the E has no 24p mode in sd. Which is something to keep in mind.
