Hey guys. I’m thinking of replacement camera kit for the wedding business. I’ve only started out, so at the moment I only have the one kit which is the DVX 100, if that breaks down during a wedding pretty much screwed. Any ideas??

anotehr DVX100... or if your lookign for somethign smaler, a DVC30.. but colour gradation on that unit is WAY off compared to the DVX... which is why i took mine back and stuck with the DVX

Another option is a GS400, or if you have the funds, id recommend the JVCHD101 simply due to the longform capability of tape comprared to P2 of the HVX

The JVC has very similar scene settings to the DVX100, and its operations are very similar. Great little unit for the money

Dennis,

I would think you would be better off to get another DVX100. You could have one set up with a wide angle adapter. You are going to want to use two cameras anyway at some point It's aways better if all your batteries, chargers and other accesssories are interchangeable. Also color matching will be a breeze. You can set the DVXs to Freerun Mode and take the remote control to sinc both units to the exact same time. This can be a great advantage during editing.

I'll chime in with another vote for the DVX100/A/B. It will be the easiest way to match images, coloration, as well as syncing the footage together by using the remote as suggested by Mike. Plus if you're planning on shooting in 24P (which I'm not sure if you are) you're rather limited to what choices you have anyway. Good luck.
