The Z1 apparently has an audio limiter. So, is the limiter of beachtekDXA8 useful w/ a Z1?

Thank you

The Z1 has XLR inputs, Phantom and a limiter. Don't see the need of a Beachtek here..

The Z1 has XLR inputs. You might be thinking of the FX1, which has a 1/8" input.

The Z1 has XLR inputs. You might be thinking of the FX1, which has a 1/8" input.

And the FX1 also has a limiter.

You can buy a cable -- not need of a "box" -- that terminates in a metal 1/8" stereo plug and has a pair of XLRs. (Be sure to attach the SHORT cable to the FX1 so as to put no strain on the tiny plug.)

If you are running long lines to a mic -- be sure either the cables' XLRs have transformers or you use in-line transformers. These take a balanced mic signal and convert it to un-balanced which the camera accepts. Essentially you'll have created a box in the form of cables.

Unless you have mics with very different sensitivities -- you do not need level controls.
