Hi, all!
Panasonic announced the PV-DV953 at the 2003 Consumer Electronics Show.

Frank, looks like you'll get your wish. US version of MX5000!

Reading through the review, I noticed in the picture of cam under the heading "Manual Control" it says MANUAL EIS. And I suppose it says AUTO EIS for the previous picture.
Oh oh.... :( does that mean it's using Electronic Image Stabilization instead of Optical? Is EIS the same as DIS?

Never mind. A few pictures down, it says Optical Image Stabilizer on the lens, below the MEGA button.
Phew! Thought it was going to be another Panasonic AG 50z (can't remember correct model number) with DIS instead of OIS.

I've been following this for the last few days and am waiting for Pana to release the specs. With that, I'll be able to compare the PV-DV953 with the MX5000 to see if anything has been stripped.

There's still no official news from Panasonic USA, regarding their new line of consumer cams. I wonder if there'll be a EZ version of the PV-DV953---and I wonder what the differences will be, if any.
