I am trying to capture to Windows Movie Maker from a Sony TRV230 camcorder via Firewire (under XP SP2). The capture seems to work fine (any video mode), but when I play back the clip it is accelerated (audio and video both) - about 1.5 times normal speed. MS warns that having Intervideo's WinDVD on the same computer can cause this, so I deinstalled it and even manually removed from the registry a straggler reference to its filter... but even after a reboot the problem persists. I have tried all options in the WMM menus. The only filters showing now are two Nero burner filters and I have unchecked both.
What's wrong? This is pretty frustrating. I am about to put another dart in my Bill Gates dartboard. Come to think of it, that can actually be quite satisfying...but I still need to solve this dumb problem. Any guru hints?
