I'm looking for dual-layer dvds that will work with lightscribe. I can't find such a thing anywhere! I just bought a 16x dual- layer dvd burner with lightscribe and cant find a disc to take advantage of it. I know that it will burn any type of dvd, but I can't find any where you can burn the lightscribe images on them that are dual-layer as well. Does anyone know where to get these? I've heard that some dvds although not intended for lightscribe can be used, but generally the images don't turn out as well. Is anyone using a disc that is dual-layer that technically isnt lightscribe compitable but will still work? That would be ok.

I'm answering my own question. I found on lightscribe.com that at this time there are no DL lightscribe dvds. I guess they will make a drive that will burn a dual layer disc and will burn lightscribe images, but they didnt think that someone may want to put a lightscribe image on a dual layer disc. It's amazing how you would never be able to tell that when you are buying a burner. BOOOOOOOO to you lightscribe BOOOOOOOOOO

Now I have to decide between less compression or a lightscribe image on a wedding dvd. Funny but i'll probably pick the 4.7gb with the lightscribe image on the dvd, most people won't even know that the video quality could be better.

Isnt this physically impossible? If you are going to burn the lightscribe image on the other side how could you think that there would be a way to put data there? You cant use the same side of the disc for two purposes.

I just found the name for dual layer single sided disc; dvd-9. I believe that is what hollywood has been using. They hold 7.95gb. They also have a dual-layered, dual-sided called-dvd 18 which holds 15.9gb So in theory they should be able to make a lightscribe abled surface on the top of a dvd-9, but they don't have them yet. So yes it may be impossible for now, but it isn't.

I also have one of these DL LightScribe drives. However, I don't think the quality of the LightScribe-ing part is worth compressing your video just so it'll fit on a DVD-5 disc. I've had better "wow" factor from a glossy full-color label than LightScribe. I'm still bummed that it takes 25+ minutes just to burn the label! I'm sure a DVD-9 LightScribe disc will be out soon....at a novelty price, too.

on a related note, will ligthscribe erode the DVD over time like certain label adhesive chemicals will do to certain blank medias?

Is there any new info on this issue? I was looking to buy a Lightscribe burner and want to use the dual/double layer discs...are there any out there yet? I agree with Edward that compressing video isn't the right path just to etch a label...but I think people would really notice the label...
