I do a lot of corporate videos and finally got one where they'd like to integrate the software training with their presentation. I've found a lot of capture programs that convert to wmv but are there any that capture as avi? I would assume that since that is what my camera is recording as that to edit the two together I would need to capture the computer screen as that as well. Thanks for the responses.

Camtasia Studio is very popular for training videos. Check it out here:

It's also got a ton of editing features with it, so it's like a screen recorder on steroids. You probably don't need all the editing features, but at $299 it's not a bad deal.
I played with a program a couple weeks ago that captured in .avi, but I can't remember what it was. It was about $49. I'll post the link as soon as I remember the name.
