View Full Version : Jan Crittenden, get well soon!
Chris Hurd January 26th, 2006, 08:58 PM Some of y'all may already be aware of this, I think we're probably the last site to report it... unfortunately Jan Crittenden Livingston was recently injured in an automobile accident during the Sundance film festival in Park City, Utah. Although the outcome could have been much worse, she has suffered a busted knee and some other injuries. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and wish her a speedy recovery.
Jan is the Panasonic Pro Line product manager for the DVX and HVX series camcorders and has been a long-time member here. Having suffered a knee injury myself in the past, I can tell you it is no fun at all and new dimensions of pain are discovered in that process. I say bring on the copious meds and plenty of rest. Get well soon, Jan! Hope to see you fully recovered at NAB.

A speedy recovery to you, Jan! I'm glad it was no worse.
James Longley January 30th, 2006, 05:20 AM I owe a huge debt to Panasonic for making such a great camera -- and though I didn't have the chance to meet Jan at Sundance, here's hoping for a speedy and complete recovery!
Ken Tanaka January 31st, 2006, 04:26 PM Sorry for getting to this late.
I was very sad to read this note about Jan. I had the opportunity to meet her in 2004. She is an extremely credible and enthusiastic representative for Panasonic's Pro line and just a plain ol' nice person.
I, too, wish her a rapid and complete recovery.
Jacques Mersereau February 1st, 2006, 08:10 AM I am so sorry this happened to you Jan. You have my best wishes
for a complete recovery, but having had a knee injury myself, it is
going to take a while to come back 100%. It won't be
easy for someone as hard working as you to be laid up. Hang in there!
I hope to see you and the ground breaking results of your work again
this year at NAB.
Aloha!
Jan Crittenden Livingston February 2nd, 2006, 07:14 AM Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of the well wishing. I will be okay and right now as my patellar tendon reattaches to the new bottom of the patella, I am in pretty low pain mode. It hurts but nothing like it did. I lost about 40% of my patella in the accident. I had excellent care at the LDS hospital in SLC and some really super people that got me through, the best being my husband who I will personally nominate for sainthood.
Anyhow full recovery is expected but it will take about 3-4 months minimum and this means that I get to have one of those cool motorized carts at NAB to steer around. That is if Panaosnic and my doctor agree that I can make the trip.
Anyhow your good wishes are most welcomed and I do appreciate the thoughts.
Best to all,
Jan
Tim Borek February 3rd, 2006, 08:36 AM Jan,

We'll have to get him back behind the wheel and arrange a drag race between you two. Thanks for the update, Jan -- glad you're feeling better!
Guy Bruner February 3rd, 2006, 08:43 AM Jan,
I was so sorry to read about your accident. But, it is good to hear that you are doing better! Don't rush your recovery. Take time to heal properly. If you are well enough, I hope to see you at NAB again this year.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Dean Sensui February 3rd, 2006, 09:23 PM I will be okay and right now as my patellar tendon reattaches to the new bottom of the patella, I am in pretty low pain mode.
Egads! Knee injuries have to be among the worst. Here's wishing you a full recovery. Rehabilitiaton exercises can be really tough but hang in there -- it'll get a little better every day.
Hope to catch up with you at NAB. Meanwhile take good care!
Aloha!
Dean Harrington February 4th, 2006, 09:54 PM take it easy and keep the pressure off those knees! All the best!
Sergio Perez February 5th, 2006, 11:43 AM Get well soon! And do exercise! Go out and shoot something whith the HVX to exercise those legs(and share it with us!) :)
Joke aside, here's to a smooth recovery to one of the friendliest Product Managers in Internet history- and one that knows her stuff well too!
Rush Hamden February 6th, 2006, 01:35 AM Jan I tried to send get well messages, but your server kicked them back every time due to full mailbox, probably due to all the other get well messages you received. I asked Cathy to convey to you my prayers for a speedy recovery, and I am glad you are back with us. We really missed you.
Mark Sasahara February 24th, 2006, 10:41 AM Dear Jan,
Our thoughts are with you as you recover from your injuries. It's a drag, but take things slowly, don't rush your recovery.
Good to hear that you are already on the mend. Your contribution to this community and the wider film/video community is invaluable.
All the best,
-Mark Sasahara
