Hi Patrick,

Thank for your reply. I understand your comment... it might look fishy. But, they are actually kids which are following some cinema workshop with me. I used to be an assistant-teacher in an ethnographic film class for 2 years at the university of montreal and since last year i'm conducting cinema workshop (about 6 month with the specific kids i was refering in the previous post). Basically, we give them the possibility to represent themselves with video. Some are making documentary some others are shooting fictions. I have a BA in anthropology and a college diploma in cinema and my master thesis should be heading toward visual anthropology (a specific domain in which most of my works has been dedicated to).

As for the mic / WA,... we had a budjet of 1500$CAN for everything (including ALL the cost) and, even though we did anticipate to buy a microphone (since my RODE videomic won't be available forever...) if we get a mic for next to nothing we could use the rest of the money for something else, even if it's just some more tapes.

I would be happy to send you some pics (how can i do that in this post ?). I can't give you any close-up of the faces, obviously.

Have a good one.

Hi,

Interested in your Zoe....how did it perform with your FX-1? Did it improve the zoom ramp up/smoothness? Also, was it compatible with the Auto/Push Focus feature on the FX-1?

Thanks,

John Reilly

Mint / like new condition. In original box.

According to Lightwave's website, this slip-on windscreen fits several mics, including Canon XL series (however, it won't fit XH-A1, -G1 or GL series cams).

"A high performance fabric/mesh slip-on windscreen, the Equalizer offers far higher wind protection than the common foam sock, along with a sweetened mid-range (to pull in clear, crisp dialogue). Constructed of unbreakable polyethylene, epoxy and nylon, the tough outer acoustical fur is the softest and finest in the world."

Picture below is not mine, but from Rycote's website:

What camera are the kids using?

Philippe Messier
January 14th, 2007, 05:40 PM
Hi Patrick,

We used a D8(can't remember the model) for a while and a trv19 which were own by the 'youth club'. But, since we are looking to continue the project for another year (this one will finish in march) we bought a Pv-GS180 for the kids involved. I did bring along my GL2 once or twice for showing the kids some specific stuff and a 'more professional' cam but, the goal is to have a cam that is always available for them (hence, it doesn't need to be the best). It would be the same for the mic or the WA.

Thank for your time,

Philippe

My question wasn't intended to sound harsh, I was really wondering if there was a product out there we should be looking at. I do have this special gift of sticking my foot in my mouth though.
Or in this case, my keyboard.

I'm selling my 3x Wide Lens for the XL1-XL2, the lens is in perfect condition, rarely used actually, has a UV Filter on it and has since day 1, includes both covers (Front and Back) and I will pay the shipping in the continental US.

What I don't have is the leather bag that came with it, the original box or manual (like you really need that). It's been in my Pelican case when not in use very nicely protected.

Lens is a little over 1.5 years old and I will post pictures on my site with it later today. Condition: 9 out of 10.

Price: $ 800.00

I'm am selling my JVC Dual Format editing deck, this is the Mini-DV and S-VHS deck that many use in their suites to save on head wear on their cams. Deck is in perfect condition, purchased 2 years ago and I can honestly say has 100 or less hours on it.

I am in the process of a major upgrade to HDV and am selling to fund the purchase of the Sony M15u.

This unit has 1394 (Firewire) out and can even output VHS, Cable or OTA Antenna on firewire for recording on the PC! I have used this deck several times to dub VHS tapes to clients for DVD archiving.

I will pay all shipping to the continental US and it's yours for $ 650.00

I have a Canon Gl2 that is in great shape. I'm looking at getting rid of it in order to buy a Sony Vx2100 or pd150/170. I have used my Canon lightly and love it, however, the low light performance is not the greatest. The work that I have now been doing needs something that can perform well in low light

If I can't trade my Gl2, I'm willing to sell it and buy a Sony. If you can help in any way please post below or email me directly @ cdavid@springfd.com

Thanks

Hi Vence,

Wish you were closer to the KC area, I could work with you to get your tapes transferred. I'm not into selling my Sony units, as I still use them and they are in perfect condition.

How many tapes do you have, and what do you want to transferr them too??

There's a few of us on here that might be willing to do them for you.

No worries, I didn't take it that way.

Vence Vida
January 16th, 2007, 08:59 AM
Hey Harold,

I don't have a ton of stuff to transfer and it's not professional footage or even serious project stuff. It's mostly just stuff I shot in college, messing around with friends, experimenting, learning what the camera could do. A lot of memories and silly stuff, but stuff I would like access to, none the less.

I've got about 10 Hi-8 tapes that I need dumped to dv. It could be mini-dv, full size dv or dvcam. Mini would be the cheapest, I suppose. I'm not above shipping them out to you. It would just depend on the transfer cost per tape. I don't need to own a Hi-8 cam anymore, but I figured if I could pick-up a used one with firewire for not much more than it would cost to have the tapes dumped, I might as well have the camera kicking around, in case I need it again.

What would you charge to dump my tapes?

Hi David,

It's really kind from you. Thank for the kids ! We will gladly put both of your names in the credits at the end of both small documentaries.

Since i don t want to take something to someone i can t use at the end, do you know of a step-down filter from 37 mm to 30.5 mm ?

E,... How do you want to deal with shipping ? Is a money order OK for you ? (we don t have a paypal account).

Thank again.

Will it fit the JVC GY-HD100?

I've had it with my Sony HDR-FX1 workflow is terrible with the 60i to 24p. Seen some footage with the JVC GY-HD100U factory lens on it! This I believe is the 24p cam I want to Shoot my Film With ,still will probly need a Letus for the DOF..

Don't forget, Mr. Coker, that this forum is BASED in Texas. That should show you how cool us Texans are! Especially Chris Hurd, for providing this wonderful forum.

And no Bush jokes, or any other politics for that matter. ;-)

Seriously though, you are to be commended for helping out others with your generosity.

Hi Patric,

We'll be happy to pay for the shipping (at least). It's already really generous from you. I'll see if we could give you a 'charity donation' receipt somehow but i can't confirm that right now.

We could also send you a DVD copy of the documentaries of the kids (it will be in french though...).

Thank again,

Philippe

I'm thinking of selling my package to be ready to upgrade to the red. I would want to sell my whole set up most likely so it would include 7" on board HD monitor with mounting brackets, 17" HDTV with 75' cable and special rolling anvil case, sticks, head, wide angle adapter, 2X block IDX batteries and charger, iris rods, 4x5/4X4 matt box combo with eyebrow, side wings, hand held rig, and flight cases for camera and accessories. It's a complete cinema style package and is only missing a follow focus rig to be completely pro. E-mail me if interested.
