Mark Holland February 20th, 2007, 10:59 AM I'm working on a project with a small pile of old Betamax tapes...
If anyone has a working deck that they are willing to sell give me a shout.
Or, if you know of a reliable place that will tranfer them for me, or can do it yourself, I'll be glad to hear from ya...
Thanks.
I'm looking for one, too. I found a few on ebay. Good luck!

IRiver-799 $175 shipped in the US. International pays the cost of shipping.
Perfect working order. 1 GB of memory. Comes with everything shown plus the usb cable. Includes the Sony ECM-CS10 mic and the Sure mic bag that I use to tote around the iriver, mic, and connection cables. The iriver protective cover has a couple small scuffs but the unit itself has always been kept in the cover and is perfect.

Bogen 521 Lanc Controller $120 shipped
This unit is virtually new. I bought it in the fall, used it during two wedding ceremonies, and now it's up for sale because of a camera change. Comes with the box, manuals, and in perfect condition.

Beachtek DXA-4P $65 shipped
This adapter functions as like new. However, the look is less than new, thus the low price. I took the tripod locking stud off of the unit so that it would mount flush on my fig rig a couple of years ago. In picture three I showed the spot where it should be. Other than no stud the unit has been very well maintained and works as advertised.

Zack Wilson February 20th, 2007, 11:35 AM I'm looking for a follow focus that will attach to our 15mm rod mounted Sgpro/XL2 system (we're using only 35mm lenses, no cinema lenses) with hard stops.
Please email me.
Dylan Couper February 20th, 2007, 11:39 AM Hey Ben
What does the iRiver do besides being a regular MP3 player? Is it designed specifically as a recorder with the lav mic?
I was looking at regular 1gb MP3 players that did that, but they are usually only around $100, so I'm wondering if this one is a whole lot better at it.
Thanks!
Jad Meouchy February 20th, 2007, 12:03 PM I'm in the market for either an HD100 or HD110, preferably with some sort of power system. I will consider one in almost any condition. There is no big rush, but I do have cash in hand and no reason to waste anyone's time. Please e-mail me what you've got, and an asking price.
Thanks,
Jad
Ben Lynn February 20th, 2007, 12:13 PM That's always been the big selling point of the IRiver is that you can plug in a lav mic, external mic, line level feed, whatever and it will record it. On the top of the unit it has one 1/8" jack for the headphones and one for an input.
I used it as a second or third audio source. Maybe the wireless would go on the groom and I would plug the iriver into the house system. Or at a reception I might plug into the dj board and just pull off of that. It's really versatile in that it can pull from any audio source.
I'm not sure about other mp3 recorders and their capabilities, but the iriver is the standard and for good reason.
The Sony mic pulls it's power from the iriver. It does a good job with a single source. You won't pull a full conversation with it but you'll get extremely clean audio from the person it's mounted to. The giant squid mics are about $25 and the most popular mic for this recorder.
Thanks.
Ben
Ben Piff February 20th, 2007, 01:16 PM Beachtek SOLD to my friend Vishal, mic auction is still going.
Tyge Floyd February 20th, 2007, 02:08 PM I'll take the Bogen 521 controller. Do you take PayPal?
Ben Lynn February 20th, 2007, 02:44 PM Tyge,
Yes I take paypal. You can paypal to benlynnmail @ hotmail.com. Please make sure that your shipping address is correct. I'll send it out first thing in the morning and send you a confirmation.
Sorry for the spaces in the email address but I work hard to avoid spam.
Bogen 521 is Sold.
Thanks.
Ben
Tyge Floyd February 20th, 2007, 02:53 PM PayPal payment sent.
As I stated in the payment info, no big hurry. Send it the cheapest way you can, don't pay extra for faster shipping. I need it for a second camera, have one already.
Thanks, Ben.
Lisa Shofner February 20th, 2007, 03:01 PM I'm interested in the beachtek. Will be emailing you shortly about that.
Dylan Couper February 20th, 2007, 03:09 PM That's always been the big selling point of the IRiver is that you can plug in a lav mic, external mic, line level feed, whatever and it will record it. On the top of the unit it has one 1/8" jack for the headphones and one for an input.
Thanks Ben
Two more questions, how much time does it record on 1gb and how is the quality compared to what you would get recording to a miniDV camera?
Ben Lynn February 20th, 2007, 03:34 PM The beachtek has been spoken for.
Ben
Ben Lynn February 20th, 2007, 03:50 PM Dylan,
It will record 17hrs 46min at 44khz 128kps. So it's comparable quality to dv audio. I've never noticed a difference in quality between one source and the other. The unit actually records a very clean signal. You set the recording level and let it go. It also has a hold switch so once you start the recording you can flip the switch. If someone bumps the unit or pushes the buttons they won't stop the unit.
It really shines as an additional recording source. In my opinion, it shouldn't be a replacement for a wireless or wired mic, but a compliment to it. The time you go to a shoot and find out that you have to run 200ft of xlr to get a house feed, that's when you just patch this unit into the system. Or when you get to the church and find out they added a piano piece or a solo and you suddenly need to record that source without running all the cable. Those are some of the times that this unit is invaluable.
Other people use it on the groom at a wedding to capture the vows. I personally like to monitor my sound so I use a wireless for that. But it records the same quality as a wireless and is much smaller so it fits in the grooms vest pocket with ease.
Another way I used it was to tap the headphone jack of the camera and record the headphone output. I put my own headphones into the iriver and could monitor the camera audio like normal only it was being recorded through the iriver. Same goes for a mixer, I've pulled backup feeds off of mixers just in case there was any hum in the camera end of the chain.
Thanks.
Ben

Garrison Hayes February 20th, 2007, 10:09 PM Hey, i'm sorry that i'm not interested in buying your Lens. But i've been searching all over for what exactly the Servo Lens does....how is it any different than my XL1's 16x Lens other than the fact that its fully manual?
Charles Workman February 20th, 2007, 11:12 PM I'm selling most of my camera gear because I have some bills to pay, and I don't really use it that often.
I've used the XL2 to shoot two weddings, three concerts, a fashion show, and a short film that is scheduled to be entered in the Sundance Film Festival.
Here's a link to pictures of my gear. You'll notice that I have a Shure Wireless box attached to the rear bracket of the camera. This is removable, but I just left it on for simplicity. Here's the link: http://chasw3.powweb.com/camera/
Here's some additional detail including what I'm asking for the camera and other equipment.
XL2 in the original box w/6 batteries (approx. 18.5 hrs of record time) PortaBrace soft case, Petrol hard shell travel case (I can fit both of these cases in the overhead compartments on a small jet), remote control, owner's manual, DVD instructional video, & 20x Flourite lens with image stabilization, 2 built in ND filters, and a 72mm UV filter. - $3350 (I'll also throw in a wedding video instructional DVD.)
Canon 3x wide-angle lens with 72mm UV filter. - $1000
Birns & Sawyer Image 2000 shoulder mount camera stabilizer. - $250
Miller DS-10 2-stage aluminum tripod system with fluid head and case. This is balanced for the Canon XL series cameras. - $1100
Shure U1UB UHF transmitter body pack with WL184 lavalier supercardiod microphone and accessories. UP4UB Camera Mountable/Portable Receiver. Frequency agile in the "B" range with true diversity. I've used it twice and it's the best wireless technology I've worked with. - $1275
Please let me know if you have any questions or want to see some additional pics. Shipping costs would be actual. I can ship via FedEx, UPS, or USPS if you have a preference.
Thanks!
Aaron Ferguson February 20th, 2007, 11:18 PM Ok.. I have quite a few things that I need to part with. Many of them are new or have only been used once or twice. I will ship to ConUSA only. All prices include shipping. I prefer paypal for payments. If you have any questions please let me know!

Kevin Randolph February 22nd, 2007, 12:32 AM I'm with you, Frank. I would have bought it in a heartbeat, if I only had the funds right now. I wasn't even going to insult Ken with what I could offer him. All I can do is hope another one as sweet as Ken's rolls around when I can pick it up.
Sorry you had to go to that... that... OTHER auction place, Ken.
Ken Grohs February 22nd, 2007, 03:25 AM Well, guys, I really hated to have to go the ePay route, but it didn't seem that anyone at all was interested in it here.
Was a matter of having it just lying here not being used.
Will still consider a reasonable offer. It is a solid lens in terrific condition.
-Ken
Brian Doyle February 22nd, 2007, 03:47 AM Did you post an ad ...there? I'm interested.
Ken Grohs February 22nd, 2007, 04:04 AM Since I'd posted here first, for several days, I guess I can at least say "yes it is listed....over there".
We're not supposed to advertise auction site listings here, so I can't point you directly to it.
Thanks!
-Ken
Brian Doyle February 22nd, 2007, 04:39 AM I would be interested. Did you sell them?
Michael Rowe February 22nd, 2007, 07:09 AM Looking to save some $$ on a used 560B. If you have one you'd like to sell please drop me a line. Thanks! Email: mrowe23@hotmail.com
Yves Fortin February 22nd, 2007, 10:42 AM New price $ 2 150 US or $ 2 500 cds.
Greg Boston February 22nd, 2007, 10:55 AM Oh well, not even an offer.
Off to the prestigious auction site in the sky.....
Ken, I'm sorry you chose to do that after a mere 3 days of offering at DVINFO.
When offering items for sale here, keep in mind that some folks don't have the luxury of checking in daily for what's available.
It took me at least a month to sell both my XL2 cameras here, but I persisted, knowing that dealing with fellow DVINFO members is my preference over the relatively unknown expanse of scammers operating at the auction place.
I would recommend a minimum of two weeks on larger ticket items because sometimes a person is interested as was mentioned here, but doesn't have the funds immediately available. Sometimes the offer is too good to pass up and prospective buyers will find a way to fund the purchase rather than let a great deal get away.
Just my humble opinion of course,
-gb-
Dylan Couper February 22nd, 2007, 11:09 AM Just so you know, DVX100's are selling for about $2000cdn here. ;)
Ken Grohs February 22nd, 2007, 11:16 AM You're absolutely correct, Greg. Couldn't agree with you more on this subject.
I've even thought the exact same thing when I've seen others do it.
I've just been looking at this gorgeous lens sitting in my office and decided that it was time to try and recoup my investment in it for use on other gear that I currently need.
Just so that anyone reading this knows, I'm more than willing to pull down my listing on "the auction site" if I get a reasonable offer for it here.
I know that's not the way one is supposed to do things, but I feel somewhat bad about moving it over there as quickly as I did.
Thanks for all the interest, folks!
-Ken
