I just bought this from Steve Cahill, check his for sale post, anyway, what a deal I received this camera was in great shape, man I am heart broken to have to sell it, an unforseen expense has come up for me tonight. I am selling for what I paid for it $3000. but you must cover shipping and insurance. I will take PayPal though. I stand by what I sell, by the way the firewire port works perfectly.

Michael,

Do you happen to know how old the unit is?

Is the previous seller the original owner? Where was it originally purchased? What became of the orig. box?

Also, is the unit under warranty or extended transferrable warranty?

What city are you in?

Thanks!

John Reilly

I am in spokane washington, steve cahill was the original owner (run a search on the post about a week ago), not sure how old it is, I don't believe it is still under warranty, but the main concern is the hours on it, it could be 1 year old with 500 hrs or 2 years old with 90 hrs, I would still want the two year old camera instead.

Thanks

Mike,

Thanks for the reply.......also, since you just got the unit, have you spent any time to run through the various functions, tape transport operation, pixel count vs. dead pixels, white balance, focus, various zoom presets/operations, pic profile performance, etc., etc...

Just wondering, as you mentioned it was in great shape--are you basing that eval on any performance time checking out all the functions in addition to the firewire?

Thanks,

John Reilly

Yes I verified everything works perfectly, the only thing I saw was some small marks on the LCD, but very minor, check out the photos link above, all functions work perfectly.

Michael,

Pictures look good......are you referring to marks on the LCD screen itself, or the housing/frame around it?

Hard to identify on the pictures.....are we talking scratches on the screen surface itself?

Thanks for handling all the questions...

John Reilly

small scratches on the LCD screen, would be hard to photograph they are very slight.

This camera is in such great shape, a person would be very hard pressed to find anything in this price range for this low of hours. I would be surprised if the listing lasted past tomorrow.

Looking at them, I would not even classify them as scratches, more like small marks, they cant be felt when you run your finger across them. And if I tilt it I cant see them, scratches you could see more from an angle.

Hi Michael,

I'm interested in how this turned out. You're saying you will attempt to replace the firewire port on the camera? Very curious in what that would involve.

Hi Eric, still working it out, have not received the camera back yet to try it out, still have to order the part, but it appears it will only cost me $50 + shipping and it looks like it will be easy to do.

I'm thinking of selling my Miller DS-10 setup. It's the aluminum kit and has the 2 Stage head. I paid around $1,400 for it not long ago and hardly used it. Used it maybe 4 times. Have recipt for proof and orginial box. It's good as new.

Asking $1,200

Please, no lowball offers.

It's almost certainly a FW issue as the folks here are describing. FX1s - I've been through three of these with the same problems. Same guy supplied the FW board fix too!
Can't tell you how many oxford FW chipsets have been blown at work by hot swapping or by faulty cables - but I have a stack of at least 20 dead FW HDD cases I can show you.

This has to be one of the largest cases of "trouble? there's no trouble here" that's ever been around the computer communities. Nobody on the manufacturing side acknowledges any design issues at all.

Me, I use FW800 almost exclusively these days, and always power down before I dis/connect any FW400 plug. Call me paranoid, but I figure I'm already over a thousand repair/replace dollars into this "non-issue".

Jason Boyette
December 20th, 2007, 12:15 PM
Well right before Thanksgiving I installed the windows update and I had to restart...well it hasn't restarted since. I tried putting in the recovery DVD's and reformatting...it would do about 50% and then stop. I took out the harddrive and was able to get the information off the harddrive...it worked just fine copying the files off to an external drive. But my brain could not figure out what was wrong with my once super computer.

Hey is it possible to see the commercial shoot? And would the rings work for an Canon XH A1, the lense is a 72mm, im just double cheking?

Loren Simons
December 20th, 2007, 12:28 PM
hmmm, i actually think this has happened to me once before, this is a small factor that you could have thought of or just over looked, have you tried ust putting in another hard drive that is already windows installed? or just a blank one and installing it with the computer? I'd hate to see such a good computer go to waste!

Jason Boyette
December 20th, 2007, 12:35 PM
not a bad idea...I'll try to give it a whirl...and if I get it working, I'll just have to up the price and send you a cut!

WOW!!!! That is incredible.I don't think so. I bought two of them, each less than the $4K that someone asked for earlier. Based on my experience and on what I've seen posted here, the going rate for Z1Us, even with low hours, is quite a bit less than that.

For sale is a project rail system for a 35mm adapter or other camera accessories.

This is an early Cinevate rail system that I bought a couple of years ago in the frenzy over 35mm adapters. My intent was to build three adapters with rails and sell them to cover my own GG research, but I never quite finished the project and moved on to other interests, so I am now selling my project stuff.

This rail system is all stainless steel, with some of the parts black anodized. It has a 1/4-20 threaded hole underneath for mounting on a tripod. The rails are 13 inch long. There is still some work to be done on this rail system though. You will have to add a cork or a rubber pad for mounting the camera, buy a thumbwheel screw to attach the cam, and finally adapt the front part to whatever accessory you will mount on it.

I am asking $60 USD firm plus shipping. PayPal + 3%.
