Hi, I hope I'm asking this in the right forum. Apologies in advance if I'm not.

I've accidentally shot some footage in anamorphic for a project in which the rest of the footage is 4:3. I was wondering if it would be possible to convert it using Avid (Avid Express Pro to be precise) without losing too much quality. My guess would be that I'll need to 'squash' the image vertically and then enlarge it so that the empty space at the top and bottom would no longer be visible. If this is the case, how would I go about doing it? Also, if there's a better way then I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks.

Resize the vertical to 75% to squish it and then you'll have to resize the whole thing to fit 720 x 486.

If you're using Xpress Pro HD (any version), look for the "Reformat" category
in the effects palette.

I a having the same problem, but I am working with Final Cut Pro...

Will I loose quality when resizing?

The 'Pan and Scan' effect will achieve this handily in MC versions.
