Hi,
I am new to this forum and have just obtained an excellent condition XL1 with every conceivable extra minus a remote control with very little use(family friend)!
I would like to know if it is possible to obtain one from ANYWHERE!
Also, I intend to get the camera serviced and checked before I go any further and as I am UK based, any help on service centres and approx costs would be appreciated.
I am based near Hull, East Yorkshire.
Also, regards a teleconvertor, is it better to save my pennies and buy a genuine Canon, or one of the "Pro range" I have seen on ebay
Any help is much appreciated, as are any tips!
Thanks
Steve

xl1 remotes show up on ebay from time to time... i picked up a spare from there a few years back. you could get a new one from canon accessories as well. if i remember corrcetly, they were around 70 usd. the telephone number is on the website.

Thanks for your reply.
I am a regular on ebay so i'll keep my eyes peeled!
Incidentally, will a remote for a WL D77 remote work with the xl1?
Also, any help on service locations in the UK welcomed!

Hi Steve,
from my experiences, any Canon video camera remote will work, so if you don't need the jog/shuttle on the XL remote, you may save some money by just buying one of the smaller consumer camera remotes - the remote from my ZR-45 works fine with the XL1.
In terms of teleconverters, I've never heard of an XL teleconverter other than the one from Canon - perhaps post a link to what you're referring to, but if in doubt, always go with Canon stuff.
