Hey all-

I'm planning on organizing a video game tournament in my area, but the only place that I could host it as is a local Internet cafe with 20-40 computers. We'd be playing on Xboxes, so I figured, why waste the effort trying to get people to bring in TVs or end up purchasing some on my own, and use the computer monitors that are already present?

I'm looking for a cheap solution to convert an RCA connector to the VGA port on a monitor. I've seen a bunch of "VGA boxes," which allow for very high definition graphics from your Xbox, but I was wondering if there was a more simple cable, as video quality does not particularly matter.

it would have to involve some more hardware than just a "simple" cable. youd need to take in a composite signal and some how split it into red, green, blue, horizontal sync, and vertical sync signals.

there are already such prebuilt devices

which might be cheaper than using a component out cable hooked up to a vga adapter (the only other way of connecting the xbox to a monitor)

At least now I know that it couldn't be done "cheaply." Anybody have any advice on how to alleviate this situation? I could ask people to bring in a bunch of televisions; I think that's the most logical solution.
