I'm working on a business plan for some software products related to prosumer cameras (e.g. DVX100, etc) and am having difficulty figuring out how large the potential market is.

I realize the camera vendors are not likely to share that information, so I'm hoping to find clues to help me estimate the potential market size, preferably by camera.

Any clues out there?

Jan Crittenden of Panasonic says that her company wouldn't give out such figures.

2- It's on the web somewhere than the Sony HC1 sold 60k units (exceeding estimated 20k sales).

They only estimated 20K sales, was that to the end of 05? I would imagine they could sell 100k+ of them in the first year. To an hobbyist, it's a pretty great camera.

Stephen, If you find out, please let us know. I am interested in how many in various price categories myself.
