I've been kicking into high gear trying to find parts suppliers so I can buy in bulk and pass some savings onto my fellow filmmakers. As it stands now, the irony is that I can buy "branded" components much cheaper than I can "generic" components with no outer markings (i.e. ThorLabs tubing). So the first run of these things will have a charming, DIY look :)

As of mid-February I will have the adapter available for sale and it will, in terms of optical quality, compare favorably with several others at a far lower price -- $209 each, plus shipping.

The design will be static, and the GG will be "upgradable," so as I make improvements to that element, I will offer upgrades at a significantly discounted price to previous purchasers.

I'm looking into 35mm imaging devices right now, so this is sounding pretty good. I only have one concern though: I'm shooting 720p HD and I'm afraid a static adapter will show too much grain at that resolution. Any chance that once you finish it you could test it on an HD camera and post a video or two? If it performs well, I'll definately consider investing in it.

When the time comes, if someone in my area with an HVX or other cam could link up with me for an afternoon, I will definitely test it. Not promises that it will hold up at that res, though.

Is it possible to develop a 35mm adapter solution to 1/2" or 2/3" CCD camcorders like the newest Sony's XDCAM-HD or Thomson GV's Infinity?

I'm sure it's possible -- I doubt I'm the man for the task, though.
