Everybody likes a good rumer (I think especially the Mac community) so here are some of the latest that have a ring of truth to them.

Jeff,

Any idea when (and the URL) for Jobs address announcing these things? Will it be at the opening on the 7th?

Try this URL:

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens and how many of the rumors turn out to be true and how many turn out to be false.

A video iPod? Reuters has even gotten into the semi-annual guessing game, probably because Apple's sales have not been strong.

My leyman explanation of Bluetooth. It's a standard for communication between wireless applications. In theory, it handles just about anything from networking to remote controlling & communication. For example a bluetooth in your cellular could work with a bluetooth in your garagedoor so when you approach home you get a "Do you want to open the garage doors?" question on your cellular and by pressing yes it would tell the garagedoors to open.

This is the easy explanation and hopefully roughly accurate :P

Forbes was even getting into the guessing game. Sorry , no URL to the article.

Bluetooth has actually been around for a year or two. The problem is, it is so new many devices that contain Bluetooth are priced too high (because of licensing) compared to non-Bluetooth. This is the Bluetooth sig http://www.bluetooth.com/. It will list many of the items that contain Bluetooth. Apple also has a page http://www.apple.com/bluetooth/

Bluetooth is a short range (30 ft), wireless, communication specification. Wi-Fi (Airport) is long range (up to 150 ft). What does it do? If you have a PDA with Bluetooth and so does an associate, you can sync them, share address books, calendars, send vCards etc. Every Bluetooth device can be synced. Your PDA, phone, laptop, G4 tower etc. can all have the same contacts, address book, calendar etc. It will also replace the wired keyboard and mouse.

Interesting. I keep getting "bluetooth" confused with "sawtooth", which is apparently another mac term of some sort. Apple needs to get their teeth straightened out so my little brain isn't so confused!

Sawtooth was an Apple code name for some of the early G4's. Current G4's are referred to as Quicksilver II's. Bluetooth is an industry name for an agreed upon communication standard, like Wi-FI, FireWire, etc. Apple had nothing to do with the naming, they just adopted the standard for their devices.

I hope the rumor of a iDVD 3 is true and that it has the ability for creating chapters. A video iPod would be nice but i still havent sprung for the traditional one yet. a liitle to pricey for me still.

Well, the current rumor is the iApps (as they are commonly referred to) are all getting updated in a big way. So big, and to help Apple's bottom line, that they will be bundled and the upgrade will cost between $49 and $99. The exceptions are iTunes (probably updated in several months) and iCal and iSync (they got updated just last week).

There is a chance the upgrade will be tiered. A modest upgrade for free and full upgrade for a fee. It's also possible that if you're a .Mac subscriber that the upgrades will be free, or reduced in price, or offer enhanced features through .Mac.

Confused? Well don't be. It'll all be settled in about 36 hours and then the whining and b*tching can begin.

A new product would be cool and I've got to believe it will be more than a faster Airport. I'd like a cool iPhone type device. We'll just have to see.
