View Full Version : Redrock M2 scene footage: "The Letter"
Brian Valente January 5th, 2006, 01:15 AM Hey All,
Well I managed a few hours in the evening to put together a short scene using my Redrock M2 adapter.
The link to the footage:

and a couple stills from the larger scene I didn't edit in:

http://www.redrockmicro.com/footage/DVX100A/vase_berlin.png
The basics:
DVX100A, Redrock M2 adapter with Canon FL lenses (28mm, 50mm, 135mm with macro attachment), 2x500w lights (redhead overhead and softbox to the side for fill)
I shot it at 30p slowed down to 24p, but Vegas added a little something undesired to the slo-mo, so some of the movement is a little funky. But I think you get the idea :)

Looks good BV but I hope I never get a letter with the same content, cause your wife looked pissed! I hope you bought her some flowers:)
Brian Valente January 5th, 2006, 01:32 AM yah - the letter contained the estimated price of the Red camera! lol

LOL! You should have grabbed the mail first!
Eniola Akintoye January 5th, 2006, 02:14 AM Brian,
That was nice, awesome dude.
Do you have grabs of your entire set, so that one can see the lighting setup you used to achieve such color setting?
I intend to have such look in one of my projects.
I already have an M2
Anhar Miah January 5th, 2006, 09:04 AM Bravo ! Brain that was done very well. what can I say the M2 just gets better !
To repeat the cathphrase "MiniDV never Looked so good" comes to mind. I'm convinved that its now possible to fool people watching a DVD (made using the M2 + skill, talent :) ) that is was shoot on 35mm hehe.

Bill Porter January 9th, 2006, 11:10 AM Nice work. And throw in my vote with the others on the M2 forum for the "tell her to quit smoking" poll
Question about Magic Bullet; you mentioned it crashed Vegas 6 about a hundred times during rendering. Did you have to just roll the dice over and over or did you change something to try to make it work?
Brian Valente January 16th, 2006, 11:31 PM Hey Bill
Regarding MB2 Editor and Vegas 6.
Here are a few thoughts: First I think MB 2 is spec'd for Vegas 5 (or at least that's the references I've seen), so maybe a patch is in the works?
Second, I've found moving from 1GB to 2GB ram on my P4 3 ghz PC made a huge difference - about 50% less rendering time (so it's now only a huge pain, not a huge huge pain :) )
To fix it when it crashed, I found if I deleted the original MB filter, and then applied it again, it seemed to help a lot. Before I just opened up the clip again and re-rendered, and it crashed again, predictably. Also, I found if I turned off "use GPU" that seemed to help. I have an nvidia 6200 256mb card, and I also updated the drivers to the latest (mine were only about a month old) and it made a big difference as well. Seems pretty stable now.
What little insight that provides you, I hope it helps
Brian
