Okay, look at the specs for this.
http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2006/ces/ds_e_37lcd_adm.pdf
This 37inch LCD will handle WMV-HD without a need for an external box.
This would allow to to go straight to the TV w/o the need for any other boxes other than my server. This may resolve not needing a DVD player.
A little more than I wanted to spend, but. Now, just need to find the price.

I am trying to find out if this TV will actually do media content on the wmv HD stream. Is anyone at CES that can ask the HP folks? If not, I hope to get more info next week.

It's been possible to play HD video to an HDTV from a computer for a while now, so it appears this just adds certification for the latest Windows DRM and Intel Viiv requirements, among other things. What would be cool would be a TV like this with a built-in DVD player with support for the latest compressed HD formats, which should be possible at a reasonable price with technology now available. Whether anyone will think to do something like that any time soon remains to be seen, but it seems like an obvious step.

The SLC3760N is just what I need in my house! (i wish it came in silver)
I am in the process of converting my 300 disc DVD collection to Hard drive. Including full menus and special features. I want to play the files as if I were playing the original discs. This is going to take about 2.5 terrabytes for the collection.
I want to be able to stream any movie in my collection to any HD television in my house at any time. If I have a guest sleeping in my guest room, I want them to be able to pick & watch anything from the menu while I am in my bedroom watching something else. I guess the media server needs to be able to handle 2-3 streams of HD content simultaneously.
I have been debating on what type of media player to buy for each room to handle this, but if this HD Television will do it...then that kills 2 birds in 1 stone! If this TV had a built in DVD player and external surround speaker jacks....That would be a ONE STOP SHOP for each of my bedrooms media solution!
I hope it's released soon.

Shannon, we have the same goals!! As I said, I will be trying to get more detail on what this unit will, and will not do. Since it is lan based, it can be anywhere. I do not want any DVD, etc there, just the receive device. I would have a central location for my server disc farm, DVD players, etc.
Now, if I can direct from this tv to the server and play a stored DVD/wmv just like it was from a DVD, I am buying one!!
I also want to get more info on the DVD player that Cisco is making that will play HD.
Yep, this could be cool!!!

Shannon, I just looked at the data sheet on the HP TV, and it says it has windows media connect. This implies it would meed what MS says here?

Man, I am going to try and get some first hand info and what this will and will not do, plus what price range it will be in.
First TV of any type I am getting a little excited about. To be able to have TVs in different rooms, all sourced from one media server with HD material. Man, that would be way cool.
