My buddy Mike Curtis up in Austin has an HVX200 loaner from the good folks over at Omega Broadcast -- a great outfit in Austin with a great facility too -- and Mike has posted some notes about his tests on his blog at HD For Indies, all y'all should know about his site by now. It's one of my regular web visits (although I don't get to see Mike nearly as often (http://www.dvinfo.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=221&c=2) as I'd like to).

Check out his HVX200 report at http://www.hdforindies.com/2006/01/mike-starts-to-get-hands-on-with

Funny thing about me and Mike Curtis, we run into each other outside of Texas more often than we do actually in Austin... for instance, MacWorld coming up in San Francisco next week... and Southern California a couple weeks ago... and NAB before that... but Austin is always my personal preference for meeting friends and family and colleagues.

Enough rambling, go read Mike's blog! http://www.hdforindies.com/

Thanks Chris,

Nice Blog and some interesting stuff. It's always good to read information that can save you time down the road.

Mike took some great photo's of the HVX. It's nice to see some new ones of an actual HVX that recently shipped. That camera is going to look SWEET with my M2 attached to it. And of course everyone here will agree that a good-looking camera produces the best footage ;)

Seriously though, I was very pleased with how RedRock's M2 performed on my XL2, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what the HVX/M2 combo will do. James at Redrock did some test footage, but it was only in SD mode, as Panasonic did not ship him any P2 cards when they sent Redrock the HVX.
